Hornsea is a town located on the Holderness Coast. It is a popular tourist destination and is often used by schools to complete geography fieldwork. There are a range of hard engineering techniques used at Hornsea to reduce the impact of coastal erosion and protect the town from the North Sea. This includes groynes, sea wall, concrete revetment, rock armour and a gabion. These have helped reduce the impact of coastal erosion along the sea front. However, to the south of the town rates of erosion have increased beyond the last groyne and rock armour. This has resulted in slumping close to the caravan park.
