Top Tips

Distractions

Revision distractions are everywhere. From Snapchat to Netflix, losing focus and becoming distracted when you’re scheduled to revise is easy. So, turn off your phone, TV and console and get on. Reward yourself after you’ve put some effort in.

Staying Healthy

You must stay physically and mentally healthy as you prepare for your exams. Preparing for exams is stressful, so you need to look after yourself. Simple steps to keep yourself healthy include:

  • Drinking plenty of water
  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Eat the right kind of food
  • Turn off your devices before bed
  • Take regular exercise
  • Have a sensible work/life balance – break up your revision into small chunks.

If you need support during this time, there are plenty of places to turn.

  • Talk. Talk to friends, family and teachers. You are not alone. These people are there to support you and may have a different perspective to help you get through this time.
  •  Revise with friends. It stops you from feeling isolated and alone.
  • Breathe. Concentrate on your breathing if you start to feel stressed.
  • Practice mindfulness – The BBC mindset resources are great resources for this.
  • The National Citizenship Survey offers some sensible tips on de-stressing before exams.
  • Childline offers lots of support to young people. Don’t be afraid to seek help.
