What is the climate of the rainforest?
Tropical rainforests are typically located on or near the Equator, characterised by a warm and wet climate. The high rainfall and year-round high temperatures are ideal conditions for vegetation growth. The diverse array of plants supports a wide range of insects, birds, and animals. Temperatures in the tropical rainforest are high throughout the year. Annual temperatures typically average around 28°C and exhibit minimal daily variation. The range of temperatures throughout the year is low. The temperature never drops below 20°C and rarely exceeds 35°C. Rainfall levels are high, typically over 2000mm per year. This significant amount of rainfall supplies huge rivers such as the Amazon in Brazil and the Congo in Central Africa. Most afternoons experience a heavy downpour, which helps to keep the rainforest moist. The atmosphere in the tropical rainforest is hot and humid due to high temperatures and abundant water.
