Internet Geography Summer Challenge 2 2025

Explore Europe through football!
The UEFA European Women’s Championship 2025 is being hosted in Switzerland, with matches played across eight different cities. In this challenge, you’ll choose one of those host cities and create a geographical fact file about it.

This is your chance to explore another country, practise your research skills, and learn what makes a city special, beyond just football!

What You Need to Do

  • Pick one Swiss host city from the Women’s Euros 2025 tournament.
  • Research the city using reliable sources.
  • Create a geographical fact file that includes key information about your chosen city. You can design it by hand, type it up, or even present it on a separate piece of paper if you need more room.

What to Include in Your Fact File

Your fact file could cover the following:

  • City name
  • Place and space:
    • Place refers to what makes this city unique — its history, culture, landscape, and how people experience it. What gives this place its character?
    • Space is about the location and how it connects to other places. How do transport, trade, or communication link it? Is it isolated or well-connected?
  • Physical geography (e.g. nearby rivers, lakes, mountains, climate)
  • Human geography (e.g. landmarks, buildings, stadium, transport)

Top Tips for Success

  • Use bullet points, headings, and images to keep the content clear and engaging.
  • Try using a free online mapping tool, such as Google Earth, to explore the city in 3D.
  • Think like a geographer: what makes this city different from others?
