How has urban change created opportunities in London?

London is changing. Some of the factors that are bringing about these changes include:

  • London’s population is growing rapidly
  • The population is becoming increasingly ethnically diverse
  • The population of London is youthful
  • Its network of motorways, roads, rail and air connections has made it more accessible than ever
  • Defunct industrial sites along the Thames and the city’s hundred-mile network of canals are being reinvented as new neighbourhoods. This started in the 1980s with Canary Warf, where over 100,000 people are now employed.

These changes have led to various social, economic and environmental opportunities.
