Video Competition

This half term we are challenging young geographers to produce a coastal environments video using clips from the Internet Geography archive. We’ve made available a wide range of coastal environment clips for students to create a short video to support young people studying coasts. 

Entries can be educational videos to help students who have not studied coasts before or, can be revision clips to help with exam preparation. 

As well as using our video clips, students are welcome to record their own and include them in their videos. Entries can consist of narration, text and music (copyright-free) along with the video. 

Possible themes for videos could include (but are not limited to): 

• coastal processes
• coastal landforms of erosion
• coastal landforms of deposition 
• coastal management 
• case studies 

Each school can enter one video. We recommend running a school-based competition with the best video submitted Internet Geography. 

We’ve put together a promotional poster for you to customise and share with your students. 

To submit your entries, you will need to make your videos available online using storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox. Then, head over to the entry form and submit a link to your video. The deadline for competition entries is 3 pm on 15th July 2020.

We’ll share our favourite videos on Internet Geography and the winning entry will receive a £30 Amazon gift voucher.

Terms and Conditions

1. Internet Geography will accept one entry per school. 
2. Videos should be no longer than 3 minutes in length. 
3. Students may not use video clips that do not belong to them or Internet Geography. 
4. Students must have permission to use any audio included in videos. Some video editing software apps include stock audio that students can use. Also, royalty-free audio clips are available from several websites, including Bensound https://www.bensound.com and Free Stock Music https://www.free-stock-music.com can be used. 
5.  The video clips provided by Internet Geography are subject to copyright laws. Permission for the use of the videos is limited to this competition only. 
6. Submitting videos gives Internet Geography the exclusive right to share and distribute the media.  
7. By submitting entries, you provide Internet Geography permission to share your videos, using, but not limited to YouTube. 
8. You accept that any financial benefits from monetised videos, e.g. those posted on YouTube, will remain with Internet Geography to support the development of the site. 
9. Videos must not contain any inappropriate content. 
10. Entries accepted from young people aged between 10-18 years.
11. The judge’s decision is final. 
12. Internet Geography reserves the right to withdraw this competition at any time.
